Department of Information Engineering

The information technology industry is the core of Taiwan's industrial development. In the 79th year of the Republic of China, our university established the Department of Information Engineering at its inception and has been gradually expanding its scale over the years. In the 81st year, we established an extension bachelor's program, in the 84th year, we established a master's program, in the 88th year, we added a part-time master's program, and in the 89th year, we established a doctoral program. As a result, the Department of Information Engineering is extremely comprehensive, both in terms of its academic programs and its teaching and research activities.

Development Direction

To keep up with the rapidly evolving field of information technology, our department focuses on key areas such as embedded systems, network communication and IoT systems, artificial intelligence, and multimedia systems. Our goal is to nurture information professionals who possess both theoretical knowledge and practical expertise.

These featured areas align with current trends and future directions in the field of information engineering. Embedded systems encompass both embedded software and hardware design, which are critical in various embedded devices and IoT applications. Network communication and IoT systems concentrate on connectivity and communication technologies, which are central to realizing smart cities and IoT ecosystems. Finally, artificial intelligence and multimedia systems cover fields like machine learning, image processing, and speech recognition, all of which play crucial roles in many applications.

Nurturing information professionals who are well-versed in theory and practice means that our students will acquire a solid theoretical foundation while also having the opportunity to engage in real-world projects and applications to put their knowledge into practice. This integrated educational approach helps students better navigate the rapidly changing field of information technology and prepares them for successful careers.
